Bio

Hello! My name is Harjeet Kaur Mann and I am a 4th year Biological Science major and Public Health minor. I am very interested in preventative care and the intersection of public health and medicine. I joined the HEAL lab as an Undergraduate Public Health Scholar (UPHS) and I am working with Dr. Simmons and Dr. Phipps on the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) project, specifically focusing on the prevalence of ACEs and toxic stress in the Sikh community and the implications on the health of children and adults. As a part of my research, I have conducted a literature review, interviewed Sikh mental health providers, and shared my findings at the EEOP Poster Symposium held annually. I look forward to continuing my research with the HEAL lab and collecting data on the Sikh community. I am interested in researching health disparities, mental health awareness and resources, and lifestyle factors influence on health outcomes. In the future, I aspire to combine public health and medicine to serve underserved communities in healthcare.
