Candice Price is an endocrinology, metabolism and nutrition scientist with a particular interest in conducting research for the prevention of obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease development in women.  Her primary research focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which high consumption of sweetened beverages promotes the development of insulin resistance in Black women.  Other areas of interest include examining potential epigenetic effects of sugar consumption on genes involved in carbohydrate metabolism, the role of the gut microbiome and psychological stress as a potential modulator of cardiometabolic disease development. She received her PhD in Endocrinology from the University of California, Berkeley.
